Abstract
A surge of mass shootings in the twenty-first century has compelled divisive political and legal agendas around the Second Amendment. This thesis, therefore, will focus on the gun culture that has manifested in the United States. The central argument that will be advanced is that forms of gun control do not strangle the freedoms that the Second Amendment provides. It will also analyze various opinions and myths found in the contemporary gun debate. The papers ultimate goal will be to decipher between fact and myth and uncover the truths surrounding the politics, history, and functions of guns.
