Abstract

Dr. Bestul and the TEAMS committee have done well in editing for popular use this text of Walter Hilton's Scale of Perfection, and students as well as scholars of medieval spirituality, medieval history, medieval English literature, western spirituality, and English religious history, will discover in this volume an accessible edition of the unjustly neglected Scale, a forgotten gem among the jewels of mystical writings from the Middle Ages.
