Abstract

The history of the Catholic-Jewish relationship is a tortured one. For almost two thousand years, the words and actions of the Roman Catholic Church contributed to a climate which allowed anti-Semitism to flourish around the world. It would be impossible to assess the state of current Catholic-Jewish relations without an understanding of this legacy.
