Abstract

Neither the lifestyle nor the scientific, philosophical, theological, or political thought of Joseph Priestley can be easily characterized. However, Hebert, Ihde, and Schofield in their articles have presented a colorful and imaginative picture of this extraordinary man--and have thus contributed significantly to the history of science.
