Abstract

In my paper I talk about the affects body image has on the fashion industry. Most people in our society either have a clear or unconscious bias towards slim models in comparison to those who are considered plus sized. My paper highlights the history of fashion and why these stereotypes persist today. In addition, I talk about how this affects a person’s self-esteem. All in all, I firmly believe that fashion’s main job is to allow people to create their own sense of individuality. To me, all bodies are beautiful, therefore they shouldn’t be constrained and brought down just because of the size of their jeans or shirts.
