Abstract

Sports have been a male dominated field years, and women have not been acknowledged for their achievements. The differences between men and women stems from their physiology, gender stereotypes and the perception of female athletes in the media. There has been bridges in the gaps of gender inequality after the passing of Title IX, but other stereotypes that have hindered women from furthering their careers in sports, whether it be athletically or socially. Until the socialization of women in the sports changes, there will not be progress made in society.
