Abstract
As a double major in media arts and music, I am very interested in how the two fields overlap and affect one another. Many studies focus on the impact that music and sound have had specifically in narrative films, or on how a specific era of music like the MTV era impacted the wider culture. I would instead like to focus on some major developments in each field and ask how these major developments impacted both industries in unique ways. I plan to do this by researching and writing a video essay, a research paper presented using skills in video production, about key moments in the history of music in visual media and their impact on each industry, primarily focusing on the music industry.
