Abstract

I discuss here the creation of a course-related, collaborative website that involved students in the important work of recovering British women's travel writing from the early nineteenth century. Entitled Women in the World: Global Connections in British Women's Travel Writing 1780-1850, the digital project shows how women's travel writing participated in a growing network of exchange between Britain and the larger world. This project incorporated principles of active learning to engage students in constructing a scholarly resource that helps introduce more women's voices into circulation to broaden the canon and redefine Romanticism as a global movement.
