Abstract
This presentation and paper talk focuses on food deserts and the role it plays in communities. The term food desert is defined due to its qualities and characteristics. The effects of food deserts are addressed. The health and quality of life of individuals living in areas of food deserts are rapidly declining. Data of food deserts in Bridgeport is reviewed and compared to other food desert areas. Education is focused on as having a potential role in reducing food deserts in the United States. Potential solutions are reviewed to eliminate food deserts from society.
