Abstract
Main Research Question: What impact does consumer marketing of the food industry have on the United States population?
Argument: Food companies have created a market filled with deception and tricks to hide the unhealthy effects of the food being consumed to earn more money. Using psychological mechanisms such as color use and branding towards children has created an obesity epidemic that has trumped government regulation and continues to kill millions of people every year. Furthermore, these companies target lower socioeconomic groups, influencing them to eat unhealthy foods.
