Abstract
The purpose of our poster is to review the literature on the psychology of habits. We review evidence on the importance of rewards, emotions, and past behaviors on habit formation and maintenance, as well as the factors that influence habit strength. The ultimate goal of this project is to design a daily diary study that will follow participants who are currently attempting a daily habit (e.g., flossing every day or meditating for 10 minutes every day) for two weeks in order to determine the factors that influence habit maintenance.
