Abstract
Firefighters are a subgroup of medical and non-medical first responders that are exposed to consistent trauma. Firefighter culture is also unique. Due to the mental health stigma, and fear of reputation loss, they may not obtain the necessary support they need for their mental health. When firefighters need mental health support, they should utilize specific websites, hotlines, other than the fire association websites that are already provided. This study focuses on the mental health issues of firefighters and analyzes the resources they need for improvement.
Keywords: first responder, firefighter, culture, family, PTSD, suicide, depression, mental health, resources.
