Abstract
For many years, students all over the world have tried to find the best ways to block out noise when studying, if they require quiet. Since music is so widely used today, thousands of students have referred to music to block out noise. The real debate is, is this really the best idea? This paper will explore various studies of how music impacts different age groups, personality types, and how it influences the understanding of different subjects. If it is detrimental, are there other tools that might work better? All of this will be examined in order to determine the most important question: is music more beneficial or detrimental when studying?
