Analyzing the theory of Dr Joy DeGruy Leary’s Post traumatic Slave syndrome through The Bluest Eye and Beloved. This paper will examine the impact that slavery has on a black woman's ability to mother her child. As well as the trauma that it brings onto those children.

Ayasha Cantey is a Senior English major with minors in Creative Writing, Women, Gender, and Sexuality studies, and Health Humanities. Ayasha is a member of Sigma Tau Delta- English Honors Society. She is also a research assistant for the Untitled Othello Project. She is involved in the Multicultural Center, where she works as a resource guide and an MACC student connector.
