Introduction to the 30th Anniversary Special Issue on Play Therapy in Schools
It is an honor to have the opportunity to bring the play therapy community a special issue on play therapy in schools. In April of 2016, as part of the 25th Anniversary Special Issue Series, International Journal of Play Therapy published the first issue devoted solely to the use of play therapy in school settings. Now, in April of 2021, we offer a second special issue on play therapy in schools. This issue is unique in that it is the journal’s first double-issue. A typical issue is 50 or so pages; however, this issue contains eight articles that span almost 100 pages. The need for play therapy in schools is more than enough reason to provide more examples of play therapy application and research.
