Abstract
Persistent gender disparities in academic major selections reflect broader societal patterns, which, in turn, shape employment opportunities and income levels for graduates. This research explores gender representation across college majors, focusing on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) versus non-STEM fields. By analyzing data on recent graduates, including gender ratios, median salaries, and employment rates, this study reveals substantial gender-based differences in academic preferences and economic outcomes. These findings underscore the economic impact of gendered academic paths and offer insights for educational policymakers, institutions, and stakeholders working to advance gender equity in higher education and the workforce.
