Description
Horace Wells began his career as a dentist in Hartford. Patients that experienced extreme pain during dental work led him to experiment with nitrous oxide. He had his own tooth extracted to prove that nitrous oxide could alleviate pain. His experiment was a success and led to further advancements in anesthesia.
