Description
Dr. Washington W. Sheffield had a dental practice in New London. In the mid-1870s, he created a tooth creme to use on his patients. Dr. Sheffield and his son improved upon the product and put it in a easy to use squeeze tube. This product was the first toothpaste and was patented in 1881. They called it “Dr. Sheffield’s Crème Angelique Dentifrice”.
