Description
Lyme was first discovered in 1975 in Lyme, CT when a cluster of children were diagnosed with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritics symptoms. The mothers brought the discovery to the CT State Dept. of Health. Researchers found most of the patients with arthritis lived in heavily wooded areas. In 1976, Lyme was recognized and named after the town by Dr. Allen Steere and Dr. Stephen Malawista.
