Abstract
The Nurse Practitioner or Doctor of Nursing Practice (NP/DNP) needs to be equipped to have the knowledge and skills to lead the way in supporting a culture of safety and quality in whatever type of healthcare setting she or he is practicing in. Understanding the tools and processes used for quality and safety improvement in order to use them to improve patient care is a vitakl component for the practice-based, doctorally prepared nurse practitioner.
