Abstract
We were greatly disappointed to read the negative comments recently published regarding the Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology's position statement on the benefits and risks of physical activity for children. Although we agree with the authors that there is far too much “scaremongering” about the risks associated with childhood physical activity, and far too little high quality data on either the benefits or risks, we do not believe the editorial comments accurately represent the published position statement.
