Abstract
The article presents the author's view on the St. Eucherius of Lyon's letter "In the Praise of the Desert." It suggests that the letter has a strong conviction of the saint's part, and describes the spirituality of the desert. It notes that the letter offers an opportunity to identify contributing factors in the evolution of the desert motif. It also relates the topic to the challenges in the development of Latin monasticism.
