Abstract
Recent polls suggest the American electorate is pretty unenthused by the current presidential contest between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, who are perhaps the most unpopular major party candidates to ever run for the highest office in the land. What does it mean for a country when its citizens vote for a presidential candidate only to "keep out worse people – keeping their hand on the pit of the stomach the while"?
