Abstract

Letter from Annie Johnson, Director, and Arlete Perez Paez, Assistant Director:

As we celebrate the beginning of summer, we pause to reflect on the changes, successes, and collaborations of this past academic year.

In January, we welcomed Francis Origanti as the interim Vice President for the Mission Integration department and are assisting with the search of Executive Director for the department as well. Additionally, Arlete Perez Paez was promoted to Assistant Director; the office also will be hiring a fulltime Coordinator for Community Partnerships in time for start of the new academic year.

We are also excited to share that included in the list of transitions is the renaming of our office – moving forward we will be the Office of Community Engagement. This name change demonstrates how we plan to pioneer a way for the university engage in the community in a responsible and sustainable way, while upholding the mission for social justice through both partnerships and outreach, as well as community-engaged learning and research. Our guiding mission is to be grounded in the Catholic Intellectual Tradition, while connecting community and campus assets, transforming student knowledge and awareness through experiential learning opportunities, and inspiring civic action to create a more just, inclusive, and equitable world.”
