Abstract
EagleEye Technologies, a mid-sized technology company known for its high-quality smart home security cameras, had been performing well during its first 6 years of operation. Its revenue growth and net profit margins averaged 16% and 12% annually, respectively, and both numbers were higher than the industry average. In its most recent year, however, the company was facing increasing competitive threats from its rivals, who started to focus on expanding their product lines and differentiated offerings for both homes and businesses. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of EagleEye, Alex Foster, concerned about recent financial data and the likely possibility of experiencing stagnant growth for the first year in the company’s history, was challenging employees to develop ideas for a new product line that could differentiate the company and jumpstart growth. Interested in taking this opportunity to shine with the top executive, Sophia Torres, manager of the product development unit, adopted a design thinking approach, beginning with a brainstorming session involving four experienced members of her team. Her goal: developing a feasible and revolutionary idea that could reignite EagleEye.
