Description
The USS Nautilus was the first nuclear powered submarine. It was commissioned at Groton on September 30, 1954 under the leadership of Captain Hyman G. Rickover, at the Naval Reactors Branch of the Atomic Energy Commission. In 1957, Nautilus left New London for her first voyage.
