Margaret Rudkin opened the first bakery in Norwalk in 1947 after developing a whole-wheat bread for her son with severe allergies.
The Margaret Rudkin Pepperidge Farm Cookbook became the first cookbook on the New York Times bestsellers list. In 2007, Fortune magazine’s “100 Years of Power” named her the most powerful woman in business for 1950-1960.
