    Description

Wright and her husband moved to Fairfield after living abroad.  As a lover of birds, she founded the CT Audubon in 1898 and became editor for the organization’s publication, Bird Lore. Wright is also credited with also establishing the Birdcraft Sanctuary in Fairfield, the first preserve of its kind in the nation.  Today it is a National Historic Landmark and educational center.

Wright is also the author of several books about birding and environmental issues.
