Description
Martha Minerva Franklin is considered a nursing pioneer as she sought to fight racial inequality for black nurses. She formed the National Association of Colored Graduate Nurses. In 1951, National Association of Colored Graduate Nurses merged with the American Nurses Association. Martha was inducted into the American Nurses Association Hall of Fame in 1976.
Martha studied nursing in Philadelphia then moved to New Haven. She grew up in Meriden.
