Description
Crawford was a suffragist and political pioneer. She was an early member of the Westport Equal Franchise League, president of the Westport Republican Women's Club, and vice chair of the Republican Town Committee. In 1924, Crawford was elected first female state representative for Westport. She filled that seat for six terms and in 1928, was elected the first female Secretary of State.
