Abstract
Stepping away from viewing circumstances from our own perspective to the patient’s perspective is a critical step in the care of others in a diverse world. Putting aside an imperialistic attitude of thinking one knows what is best for others, and taking the time to know what is significant to individuals and communities, is an important step in developing a successful patient-NP relationship (Ott & Olson, 2011).
