Abstract
It is important to begin to define leadership, leadership activities, and individual characteristics of effective leaders for nursing. Clarifying these characteristics will enable Clinical Nurse Leaders (CNLs) and other advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) to lead healthcare reform in a direction that fosters healthy outcomes for practitioners, clients, and healthcare systems.
