Description
Anna graduated the Brooklyn College of Pharmacy and was the only woman and first African American woman to graduate from the school. In 1909, she applied for her license and became the first African-American female pharmacist in Connecticut. In 1922, James took over Lane Pharmacy in Old Saybrook and renamed it James Pharmacy. The James Pharmacy, no longer a pharmacy is on the National Register of Historic Places.
