Abstract
The article discusses the epidemiology, pathophysiology, and special exercise considerations for stroke survivors who are considered medically stable by their physicians, at least 3-6 months or more post-cerebrovascular accident and have typically completed formal rehabilitation. Topics include the signs of stroke, the physical and cognitive effects of stroke, and effects on the physical activity and exercise response. It also discusses the benefits of exercise in stroke survivors.
